Spanish fashion brand Mango has joined forces with the Centre for Higher Education in Fashion Design (CSDMM, Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda), at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, to deepen its understanding of sustainability. The two signed an agreement and will develop a training programme that is set to kick off in 2024.
Around 250 Mango employees will receive sustainability training from the university’s Centre for Higher Education in Fashion Design, the company stated in a press release. Training in areas like recycling procedures, the newest advancements in more sustainable materials and fibres, certifications and labelling, and the application of circularity principles while designing collections is the aim for buyers and designers from all Mango apparel lines.
According to a press release issued by the firm, training Mango staff is a component of Mango’s goal “to attract and retain talent at Mango.” Leila Rettali, global director of talent and organisational development at Mango, stated in the release, “We want to continue promoting our company based on our company values, training and development, and rewards and benefits for our employees. In 2023, Forbes recognised our company as one of the best employers in the world.
Furthermore, Mango seeks to form alliances and partnerships with establishments that share its commitment to advancing knowledge creation and education. Mango stated in a press release that it intends to move “a big step” in the direction of a more sustainable economic model.
To “improve society by generating and transferring knowledge and training future professionals” is one of Madrid Polytechnic University’s stated objectives. The university enters into relationships with organisations and businesses in the domains of architecture, sports, fashion, and technology in order to accomplish this purpose.
