Mannequins upcycled unveiled | Bracknell Forest Council – Bracknell Forest Council |

Thursday 8 February saw the unveiling in The Lexicon, of Mannequins Upcycled, an art and fashion exhibition by students at Bracknell and Wokingham College.

Students at the college have created 12 eye-catching designs on 12 mannequins that were destined for landfill, as part of their work experience project with The Lexicon.

Each mannequin depicts a month of the year, and the students in keeping with a theme of sustainability have incorporated donated upcycled materials into their designs.

The mannequins exhibition will remain in place until 19 February 2024, and visitors to The Lexicon are being asked to vote for their favourite.

The winning student design team will win tickets to Cineworld and a meal at Five Guys, while as an incentive for voters, there will also be a prize draw to win a £100 gift card of their choice.

Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon says:

“The students have really excelled with their designs.  Both the creative thinking and practical implementation have resulted in a spectacular art exhibit for the town centre.”

Sue Dew-Gosling, Creative Arts Lecturer at Activate Learning, says:

“The students have had a fabulous opportunity to show their creative skills in this live project, upcycling materials and using their ingenuity to make colourful seasonal designs.”

Cllr Mary Temperton, Leader of Bracknell Forest Council, says:

“It’s wonderful to see The Lexicon providing an opportunity for students in the borough to show their design skills. I love how they have used upcycled materials in their design.”
